LESBIANS OF A CERTAIN AGE (LOCA)
At the Q Center, we take immense pride in being a welcoming and inclusive space where diverse LGBTQ2SIA+ individuals and groups can gather and build meaningful connections. One such remarkable group is LOCA (Lesbians of a Certain Age), a dynamic community that regularly meets at the Q Center.
LOCA is a volunteer-led social group for lesbians aged 50 and above in the Portland metro area. The group's mission is to foster community and create opportunities for older lesbians to connect through various activities such as board games, discussion groups, meeting for coffee, book groups, eating out, and dancing. LOCA hosts special events like a holiday party in December, a picnic in June or July, and a monthly potluck gathering where members can connect, laugh, and share a meal together. The potlucks will occasionally feature a speaker, a media exchange, or some form of entertainment, depending on member participation.
What makes LOCA truly special is its commitment to inclusivity and non-discrimination. LOCA welcomes anyone identifying as a woman who loves women, ensuring that trans women, bisexual women, asexual women, and all who identify as women who love women feel respected and included. This dedication to inclusivity aligns with the core values of the Q Center, making it a perfect home for such a community-driven group.
The Q Center continues to be a vital space for groups like LOCA, providing a safe and supportive environment where individuals can gather, find companionship, and engage in enriching activities. We invite you to learn more about LOCA and the many ways the Q Center supports community-building.
